The City That Heals:Gönen

 

  Gönen which has been the source of healing for many people throughout the years ,is known as the "city of hot springs"or the "healing city".

    it is located on the Bursa-Çanakkale highway and is 114 km from Balıkesir.

    Gönen entered a rapid industrialization process from the beginning of the 80s in connection with agriculture and live stock breeding factories that produce milk and diary products and rice husk factories that were built with the rise of production  of this material have since become the corner stone of rhe economy of the borough.

    Gonen,which was known as asepsus during the antique age ,was later known as Artemea because of its thermal hot springs.In his famous book is Seyahatname ,Evliya celebi says that Gonen was the town of Bursa king Mihalic and that is a clean town with red brick structures.in fact,it is known that the kings in Bursa would come down to Gonen in the summer and took advantage of the healing water.
